Inexpensive to buy and run, the SOLID F40 was the most economical printer in its class. As a continuous laser printer for medium print volumes, it offered a very wide range of applications.

Flash fusing using xenon flash lamps enables the processing of thermally sensitive media such as plastic or PVC. Fusing is also easy on thicker materials.

The SOLID F40 directly replaced discontinued printers, such as Printronix L5535, IBM Infoprint 3000, IBM Infoprint 4000 and 4100, IBM Infoprint 100, IBM Infoprint 75, and OCE Variostream, with its support for multiple printer languages (emulations).
